A great big PBS/iBelieve shout out coming your way!!! It was shared at our last PBS coaches meeting that you are becoming particularly diligent about making sure a ‘tracking form’ accompanies an office referral. For this we would like to recognize you and commend your efforts. This is a key component of both the PBS and iBelieve systems. Making certain that at least (3) documented teacher interventions have been attempted prior to you dealing with the youth on a referral has so many benefits. It empowers teachers to manage their classroom issues while building rapport with the youth and alerts the parent in addition to engaging their help. When it reaches your level, you are able to open a dialogue with a parent on a more positive note: “ I know you have been working hard with Ms. Jones to curb Billy’s use of profanity when he is upset or makes a mistake but….”etc. Many thanks for ‘staying the course’ and maintaining this important point of consistency as we cultivate more effective methods for dealing with discipline and improving our schools climate.
